Orange Burnt White Chocolate Cake

Orange Burnt White Chocolate Cake Recipe

Recently, I was inspired by a Korean YouTuber (Johnny Kyonghwo) to make Orange Cheong (Korean Fruit Syrup) and that inspired me make Cake too! So, I found a recipe by another Korean Youtuber named You See who made an awesome Orange Cake and I tried it out and this is my version of their recipe. Check out their video here Cake.inspo

Ingredients:

- 1 Large Orange

- 3 Eggs (Seperate Egg Whites and Egg Yolks into different bowls)

- 1g of Salt

- 90g of Sugar

- 90g of All Purpose Flour

- 30g of Vegetable Oil

- 30g of Orange Juice (from Orange)

- Orange Zest (from entire Orange in this recipe)

- 5ml Vanilla Paste or Extract

Optional - Frosting:

- White Chocolate

Cooking Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 340°F. Butter/coat your cooking pans of choicr and then dust with Flour.

2. Wash your Orange in baking soda and vinegar and let it sit in solution for a min of 15 mins. If you don't have Baking Soda and or Vinegar, you can scrub your Orange with Salt and Water for 2 mins then pat dry.

3. Zest the whole Orange and set aside.

4. Cut and squeeze Orange of a minimum of 30g of juice (it may yeild more) and then set aside.

5. Mix Orange Zest, Orange Juice and Oil into a bowl and set aside.

6. Seperate the Egg Whites (in a large bowl) and Egg Yolks (in a small/medium bowl) into different bowls.

7. In the bowl of Egg Yolks, add Salt and Vanilla Extract. Mix everything well, but not too vigorously.

8. Take the bowl of Egg Whites and whip for about 1-2 mins and then add 1/3 of your Sugar (30g) and continue adding sugar in those intervals (so, every 2 mins, add Sugar into the Egg Whites) until you have stiff peaks of Meringue.

9. Add the the Egg Yolk mixture into the the Egg Whites and mix until well incorporated.

10. With a sive, add Flour into Egg mixture and do not whip, but fold Flour gently into mixture.

11. Take a large spoonful of Cake mixture and add it into the Orange Zest mixture bowl and mix thoroughly and then re-incorporate that new mix into the cake mix by folding it until well combined.

12. Pour Cake mixture into your pan(s) and then gently tap it to release any air bubbles.

13. Bake for 30 mins and then immediately pull cakes put of molds when the cake is fully cooked through. You can test it by poking a toothpick into the cake and if it comea out clean, it's cooked!

14. Let the cake rest for about 10 mins on a wire rack if you want to cover in frosting.

Frosting:

1. I browned White Chocolate by forgetting it in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Then, I topped my cakes with it. You can do the same or use any frosting of your choice.
